Car Parts

A car consists of many different parts which it will need to be able to run. When someone buys a new car, these parts will be covered in the warranty. This means that if anything goes wrong with the car, the owner simply contacts the dealership where they bought the car and they will replace the parts for them. However, if the warranty expires or the car is bought on a private basis, then the owner will not have this cover and will therefore, need to purchase the parts themselves if the car breaks down etc…

The owner will then have a choice; they can either buy new car parts of used car parts. The new parts could be purchased from a number of different car parts shops or from the car manufacturer directly. These can be very costly so many people will consider purchasing used car parts instead.

Used car parts can be found in a number of places including the Internet, car breakers, second hand car part shops and a few petrol garages (you can normally purchase car bulbs and small parts like that here). The best place to purchase a used car part is from a breakers yard. This is because they have a huge variety of parts that the buyer can choose from. They are also at a very reasonable price. There is a growing problem with this though, which is that there are not many breakers yards around nowadays. This is simply because most individuals are purchasing brand new cars and do not need to use them.

Used car parts are also found in the wholesale and retail market. A lot of car parts sellers deal in copy car parts, therefore the buyer should take great care when they buy from them. Because the parts are copies (or compatible types), they are not made with the same quality and will therefore, generally not last as long as the originals would.

Due to the continual increase in the production of cars, the market for these used car parts is always expanding. Car parts that are recycled could solve the dilemma of disposing waste which is created due to abandoned and older cars. The recyclers will also deal with used car parts and will normally sell quality parts to their customers.

Due to the increasing use of the internet, it is able to provide both a buyer and a seller with a large market for selling & purchasing used car parts. Nonetheless, the quality of these car parts are not able to be judged easily as the buyers are not able to see or touch the car parts first. Another problem that can occur is that parts that are not branded, manufactured locally or are duplicate car parts are generally found to be very dangerous.

Nearly all the car companies will offer drivers original parts for their cars if they have to be replaced. A few car parts will also be covered by the dealers’ warranties but some will not. It is highly advisable for the driver to purchase used parts which are covered by some form of warranty just in case a problem occurs, however these are not very easy to find as most used car parts do not have a warranty attached to them.

Alongside these problems, another point to consider is the age and popularity of a car. For example if there were only a few models made for a car, then it is quite fair to say that there will not be many spare parts made for them. Those that are will probably be quite expensive.

Another type of car to look at when considering spare parts is of course the classic cars. When someone is considering purchasing a classic car, the main question that they think of is whether or not they will be able to afford to have it repaired. This is simply because parts for the classic cars are not very easy to find, and they may have to pay a ridiculous amount of money for even a little part.

The majority of classic car parts that are available on the market will fall into the used class. The buyer will need a lot of time and effort in order to locate them, and then they must ensure that they will work with their car, as well as finally having to negotiate a suitable price for the part. Another problem which would more than likely occur is that not every car mechanic is familiar with classic cars and their parts. In these circumstances, the owner will need to put their cars into a specialised repair shop where some of the car parts may cost a few thousand pounds.
